One of my first attempts at freehand photo-copying pictures of war. I started it as a way to better my understanding of the feel of WWII pictures, as well as the physical attributes involved, such as the folds in their clothing, and the shading most of all.

Again, this is a pencil drawing of a photograph, and the national archives of the respective country holds the rights to the original photograph. I have simply drawn the photo. I do not want any misunderstandings there.

That aside, I plan on submitting a few more of these.

very well done, a real masterpiece!

this is the kind of illustration that i love to do myself! very detailed with a lot of shading but fuck me i dont think i would ever draw something like this cuz it would be WAY too time consuming. i mean fuck, how long did it take you to finish this?? thats what i really want to know!

Wow, this is beautiful, 10/10. I'm a sucker for WWII art. Do you care to link me to the original photograph?

thdark responds:

I used a book reference for the picture, so I'm not sure what the internet source would be.
The book credits "Chrysalis Images" for the photo however, so that's all I can tell you.
