Welcome to Armstrong-Gagarin Sensor station! The highest eyes on this shithole.

Backstory:

Named after Astronaut Neil Armstrong and Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the station was built on top of the mountain on a far-flung rocky planet that turns out to be strategically important due to frequent opening of unknown portals and used invasion routes because of lack of inhabited civilizations in the system.

To detect and monitor activities in the range as far as 5 solar systems stacked in line. Equipped with not only most sophisticated radar, but also sensors made in combination of human and allied alien technologies, allowing the station to detect cloaking vessels, ships traveling faster-than-light, etc.

The station is also made in top secret condition, which means only selected few know about the place. And when switching work shift, no one is allowed to talk about the station. Or face court-martial.

Story:

An unknown transdimensional portal suddenly opened close to the planet's outer high orbit. Then, it would like the horror materialized; ships infected with some kind of biomass come out of the portal. With larger capital ships have like fleshy veins and eyes all over the hulls. It is the horrifying sight that the entire station goes on full alert. The station captain order the portal force-closed. The moment the station reveal the real power; the capability to generate disruptive signal energy to close the portal. Thus "putting out fire before it spread". At that moment, one of 3 hiveships get sliced in half by closing portal before exploding spectacularly.

One of the ships in this partial infested armada is planet destroying ship. It charge up the laser, then fire at the planet. But the generating signal energy is so strong and disruptive that it diverted the laser away from the planet harmlessly.

That one moment, the fleet decide to invade and infest the station, the hard way.

That is when the fight starts...

This is the idea of fixed defense shooter game. With inspiration from old flash games i played. like Storm the House games, and Horizon of War.

The enemy is also inspired by like; The Thing, The Beast virus from Homeworld: Catalysm/Emergence, Zerg swarm from StarCraft, even a bit of the Flood from Halo. To be so horrifying that you would feel no remose to shoot them. The infected would even be grateful to finally free their souls from the biomass.

There is only one direction for the infested to attack: from the small open field of the mountain top, where the towers are facing. The infestation pods could not even deploy directly on the station due to the signals jamming their ocular targeting organs that they could only see the far end of the field.
