What if Chrono Trigger, was 1.5x bigger?

A few years back I did larger Chrono sprites and decided it would be fun to make a whole scene at 1.5x the size of the original. Was a lot of fun to make, but took forever, so I'm probably going to make another one of these. The Cathedral was always one of my favourite parts of the game and one most people who played CT for a while would be familiar with so I decided to pick that one.

I had to say making 16-bit-32-bit pixel art is time consumingly hard but you totally nailed it in the end.

SuperPhil64 responds:

Thanks! I started this as a side project to chip away at, and then had the drive to sit down and finish it and even then took me a good chunk of time to get everything done. Def gives me an appreciation for all the hard work that goes into making these sorts of higher detail pixel art games.

This is how the PS1 port should have looked. It would have at least justified the longer loading times of that version, although practically every Chrono Trigger port since then is superior in every way. I personally grew up with the DS Version!

SuperPhil64 responds:

I grew up on the SNES version(rented it constantly), and after the N64 came out it was almost impossible to find a copy of it. I remember being really excited when I found out my friend had the PS1 version, being extremely excited at the new cut scenes, and then immediately baffled at there being load times to get into battles lol. Thankfully I discovered emulation around that time too.
