Im not new to art but this is my first participation to Jazza's COTM contest.
I took the name of this month's (November 2017) theme as a metaphor to convey my day to day life as a person with a long term disability.
I used the comic format to show the viewer the story panel by panel.

Panel 1: Shows a girl in a wheelchair alone in her room. When people see a person in wheelchair at first glance, they see the chair before seeing the person, hence why the girl is seen from the back. People also associate her as being mentally disabled as well as physically disabled and cant do anything. Therefore she is often isolated in society.

Panel 2: Close up of girl's face with descriptions of what she can do and have achieved scattered around her. These are things that are often over looked and if people don't give their time to get to know the person with a disability, these abilities often stay hidden.

Panel 3: As the girl is often isolated, she uses her creative ability to express herself by draw herself as she is inside, who is as normal as any other human being.

Used traditional media (Prismacolor pencils) to convey the rough and dull aspect of reality.
Used digital media (Adobe Photoshop) to convey the clear and cheerfulness of the world in the girl's mind.
