- First of all, it was going to kill us. Second, it's a soulless construct. And third, that's not pain, but panic.
- So, this thing doesn't hurt? It looks like it alters the tissue in some way, so I thought that might hurt.
- No. As it sinks, it goes numb. So the altered tissue you see it's already numb. When the creature sinks completely, it won't feel anything anymore and will die painlessly.
- So, it panics because it can't feel the rest of its body then.
- Exactly.

Not sure if the raised hand looks good structure-wise.
But considering the overall aspect of the monster, I think it's alright.
