in the Rough

Size: 24"x18"
Blur Studio's 3d animated short 'In the Rough's caveman character remapped with nothing but cut-out and glued colors and textures found in a ton of different magazines. Local reference image is tiny so here is a (probably not permanent) bigger image http://pauldennistaylor.c om/pb/wp_e2fa47a3/images/

It's pretty cool how real it looks the farther you get from it (or even the more you squint), but that's just my opinion.

All characters, references, and magazine pages copyright by their respective owners.

I made this about one or two semesters ago, just got it back.

PS Thanks for front page whoever it was!

What the?! Why does this wonderful art piece not have a higher rating?! At least people like me and eddsworld were smart enough to notice how good it was. It reminds me of the artwork in a lot of children's books like "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". In fact, there are already insects on this page! I even love the little picture you show in the middle part.

It just seems like something you would make out of a magazine. It's like you took out pictures and combined it into something new. I don't think that's how these kinds of things are made, though. I love how everything seems to be different. It reminds me of personal art projects where you take different materials.

That's cool as hell. I really dig the ransom note style.

good stuff

the blue around his head, which i'll assume is water is very nice, I also really like his fingers/fingernails.

nicely laid out, no wasted space, overall a really interesting image that I have a connection with.

keep collaging

This made me laugh

Great work on that. You can copy and paste bits of magazines better than i can draw o.o

Nice

It's a good piece, but it becomes even better when you look at it from a distance and then back to a normal size, nice job
