The Great Master Painters of the past had as the highest of the arts the one with which they could reach the Creative Mind of the universe and recreate with it the genesis of everything that exists.

Vasari talked of the arts based on drawing: painting, sculpture and architecture. The drawing (disegno in Italian) is the expression of that idea or concept that the artist conceived in the fantasy. And painters like Zuccaro and Dürer told us that these ideas were the same ideas that Plato was talking about.

Thus, the artist rises towards the ONE, the divine world of ideas, and returns with his Work, the product of inner fantasies. This elevation is a philosophical journey, it is molded with natural philosophy or scientific knowledge until it deepens into metaphysics. Hence, Cennino Cennini said that painting is Science crowned with Poetry.
