In this pinata project, I deliberately opted for a departure from conventional materials, choosing an amalgamation of traditional and contemporary elements. The decision to employ an old-style paper mache technique with balloons as opposed to a shoebox and cornstarch was driven by a desire for a more robust and visually intricate structure. This approach allowed for the creation of a hollow yet sturdy square form, providing a canvas for meticulously cut and arranged tissue paper strips. The chosen materials, including tissue paper and tape, were selected for their tactile qualities and compatibility, ensuring a seamless integration that not only adheres to crafting traditions but also introduces a refined aesthetic to the pinata, enhancing both its structural integrity and visual appeal.
