My third commission for The Chronicles of Aeres

Went pretty overboard on this one, was supposed to be another full-party full page illo but I went a lot harder on it than the first one and I think it shows. Supposed to be a party with some gnomes and fraggle-kobolds and like a redwall-weaselfolk fighting one of those spiders from the 1977 Hobbit cartoon in a forest dungeon.

Did a bunch of loose thumbs waffling between using a spider or some kind of basilisk and experimenting with different elevations and angles before trying to go with something more central than most of my previous compositions.

You can see how my workflow is weird. After deciding on the light sources and temperatures I immediately begin fully-detailing the characters before going through the set and embellishing all of the stonework and plants.

(I highly advise against drawing foliage leaf-by-leaf in perspective)
