After over 25 years, Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario and plenty of others within the franchise, has officially stepped down the role as Mr. Video Game himself.

I'm kinda sad to hear this announcement, but at the same time, I'm very grateful he got to stick with this important task since in the 90's. He really brought these characters to life with all the one-liners, grunts, woohoos, and whatnots. Didn't think he hang up the hat this soon, but it's been a hell of a great run to hear him behind our screens.

And don't worry, this may not be the last time we hear from Charles. He'll still be around Mario and his friends as the official ambassador of the franchise.
