Here's a little list of some different ways I like to spice up my rock sprites! While this isn't exactly a rock tutorial, that's also something I plan on doing sooner or later.
Great sprites! These are good tips overall, not only for game sprites, but any tipe of art were you trying to make a landscape look more interesting!

I like Vegetation and Backlight the mose :> Pattern and Rimlght quite cool!

Light source is very ideal in case light is coming.
