Here's a wallpaper I made and i'm pretty proud of it.
My process:
- I started out by making the background first, layering images together and using various blending modes.
- I then drew my characters on paper, because I draw better on there, and scanned them so they could be finalized.
Hopefully this won't look too bad when published
- I used the same general process as I used with the movie poster, which is why they look kinda similar.
- The pencil tool was used in a very thin size to make it look crispy and all that (I found out that Kazuma Kaneko uses the thin pencil tool and it made his art look really clean so I took that idea.)
- I block out each part with a color and then replace each block with a gradient to add some faux lighting, or however you want to call it.
- I made sure to use one color to make out the shading to keep a general color onto each character. (Blue for Mac, the suited man, and red for Todd, the hooded man.) I used Color Burn for the shading and screen/light dodge for the lighting. I then used a Gaussian Blur to make the colors soft.
The idea came from an SMT 2 promo art which had the forces of Chaos looming over the Tokyo skyline. Loved that piece to pieces so here we are. Kinda reminds me of those over-edited anime wallpapers from the 2000s. That's what I was going for anyways so that's pretty cool.
