I have said this before, but I think the best way to learn illustration skills is to copy or even "comicize" scenes from your favorite movies. In particular, I think the American movie is an extremely developed art form. Each scene is shown for a short time, but I always find the hint of the director's design, calculation, aesthetics and emotion. I came to this way of practicing almost by accident, but lately I found THAT anime that proves my approach is not wrong, ... or nothing new.
