Then Pallas Athena granted Tydeus' son Diomedes strength and daring - so the fighter would shine forth and tower over the Argives, winning himself great glory (Homer's The Illiad).
Day 7 of the self-imposed Ides of March challenge, and things start to get fired up with the godlike Diomedes! Arguably the other protagonist of the Illiad whenever Achilles isn't nearby brooding. This is the man who defeated 2 gods during the war, and to make him even more badass, he didn't have a tragic tale about his death. It's not even clear how he died, that's a point of debate in his story.
If you like this illustration, please stick around! There are 8 more of them to go during this month, and my goal is to post one every day. Although I am no longer confident that I'll be in the right mindset to complete this challenge after recent events.
Go to my Ko-fi to see the sketch layer too.
