Maysozoic Day 22: Giganotosaurus

Share

Day 22 brings a Dinosaur that needs little introduction, the Giant Southern Lizard, Giganotosaurus, one of my favourite Mega Therapods along with Torvosaurus. This creature has always been cool to me, not just because of it's being bigger than T. Rex, even if it isn't heavier. There's just something about the builds of Carcharadontosaurs that is so sleek and tough at the same time. Plus, knowing this thing likely hunted Titanosaurs makes it all the more badass. For the colours I have opted to reference the ever iconic Dino Crisis 2 Giganotosaurus. Easily one of the best Gigas in the business, no matter how outdated and inaccurate it is.

Prowling the wastelands of the inland regions of the south, is one of the biggest predators we know of. The Giganotosaurus is huge, fast, and has a face full of razors for slicing away at the flesh of its victims. They are so strong that they are one of the few predators known to have hunted, and successfully killed, a Titanosaur. This is done by a small, loose group of them partaking in what's called mobbing behavior. It isn't coordinated, they simply overwhelm their larger adversary with numbers to bring them down, and often squabble over the spoils once the kill has been made. They are easily the regions apex predators, and are rightly feared for their ferocity. Some powerful nations in the south have even managed to somewhat tame them, and gear them up for war, and for this purpose, they are ruthlessly effective. Only a certain few creatures have been known to best a Giga, and I mean very few. They are truly an intimidating sight for any to see.
