In her youth in Germany, she was unfortunate enough to live through Nazi occupation. In 1935, Audrey learned of a secret branch of the Nazi Government dedicated to hunting the supernatural and harnessing its various powers. This branch was codenamed Die Dämonenjäger des Volkes or "The People's Demon Hunters"
At the time, Audrey went by Gunther Steiner due to her above-average stature, she found it much easier to hide dressed as a man. Sadly however The Third Reich drafted "Gunther" into the Wehrmacht after keeping her true identity secret during basic training, she saw this as an opportunity to get closer to the Peoples Demon Hunters, by climbing the ranks and cutting them apart from the inside. After being assigned the rank of Soldat she was sent to France in 1940 she was sent to assist in The Western Campaign and the Blitzkrieg operations that took place there. Near the end of the battle in June of 1940 "Gunther" was promoted to Gefreiter after sustaining serious injuries when removing two hand grenades lodged in a fellow soldier's abdomen.
Despite being a vampire, "Gunther" could not heal quickly as the legends foretold. Somehow managing to keep her true identity a secret from the medical staff, she was sent to a Berlin hospital, where she found it complicated to keep her gender hidden. But using bathroom breaks and shower time she was able to transition into appropriate attire quickly.
Due to the severity of the injuries "Gunther" could not fight well until the fall of 1942. Before her 35th birthday in September of 1942, there was an attack on the hospital she was stationed at. Demon Hunters were called after a confirmed vampire attack. This resulted in 25 dead and 44 injured. "Gunther" was able to stop them by hacking off the vampire's head with a fireman axe in a glass case on the wall.
The next day, "Gunther" was visited by the last man she expected to see. The Führer himself, Adolf Hitler. He wished to witness this hero who saved the hospital from an unholy creature. Hitler was deeply impressed by "Gunther" and his mighty stature and strong frame. Remarking that he was quote "The perfect example of an Aryan male." She saw this as a perfect opportunity to request to join The Demon Hunters. Hitler was enthusiastic. And "Gunther" was brought to the group through the Berlin Schutzstaffel and due to Hitlers' recommendation, she was immediately promoted to Strumscharführer
"Gunther" began hunting beasts of all types until 1944 when her cover as a vampire was blown. Ditching her identity as Gunther and returning to Audrey she fled Germany and escaped to Neutral Sweden as a war refugee. She was, unfortunately, unable to bring any documents of the Demon Hunters due to too short of notice when escaping.
Audrey safely lived in Stockholm as a store clerk until 1950 when she met a German-Swedish immigrant Vincent Newman, someone who was seeking information on the long-lost Demon Hunters. Vincent became a frequent customer and eventually, the two became friends. She opened up to him and told him everything she learned.
In 1952 at the age of 45 her vampiric biology kept her body looking young and half her age, so Vincent decided to bring Audrey to the United States and Red Sky, a city home to both demi-humans and humans. The two left Sweden under the guise of a husband-wife duo.
In 1959 when Vincent was 39 he opened his German cafe and hired Audrey as the head maid.
In 1981 when Vincent was 61, Audrey started allowing him to drink a pint of her blood once every few years to slow his aging process. This proved extremely successful, especially after a blood transfusion, which allowed Vincent to become a lesser-ghoul. A half vampire half human.
Now in 2028, Vincent is 108 years old despite looking between 55-60 Audrey at this time is 121 despite looking in her mid 20s
