At one point, we all came across a fully dressed Mickey and wondered why. Supposedly, it was done in order to separate him from his old mischief days from the 20's to the 40's, and turn him into a "model citizen". How did that work out? Not very well, it just resulted in Donald and Goofy overshadowing him with their more over-the-top personalities. 

A fully dressed Mickey was even listed as an example on TV tropes' Dork Age page (now renamed Audience Alienating Era) before being removed. International comics do keep this design, though recently they are having so many callbacks to his classic design, you have to wonder why they don't make it the default. Censorship reasons? That doesn't explain why Donald is still pantsless.

Maybe this is the reason that Mickey is constantly portrayed as a corrupted CEO in Disney satires: he has no personality, so it's hard to feel bad for him when his company is crumbling to dust as we speak, unlike SpongeBob is more often than not portrayed as a victim when it comes to Nickelodeon satire. The reason why so many FNF mods are specifically based off a creepypasta where he (supposedly) kills himself. We hate Mickey. We want him to die.
