Such a legendary and terrifying comic. Afterlife in Madness, is beyond unforgiving. I think the reason why Sheriff was attacked by the "Souls" (Possibly illusions) of his dead MERCs/allies because he starts worrying about them not making it back too once he realizes he's in hell, so his Hell takes advantage of it. Or maybe it was actually really THEM? Also the noose in the background is horribly perfect for a western lad like the Sheriff.
And The Sheriff denying suicide as a way out (I think that's what the revolver with one bullet being intentionally knocked into his enclosed space was) says a lot about him. He's not a coward. He just wants to fight and make it out alive. And when he fully established that he wasn't giving in was what allowed him to escape. I think. I dunno some of it was hard for me to understand because way this works in Madness is confusing as hell. But I just wanna say this might be one of the best Madness Comics I've ever read, period. Glad Krinkels read it in stream or I wouldn't've found it.
