In the Reconstruction Era of the 11th age of the 7th kingdom, there are dozens of known species or styles of Sapient Manifestations (people).

Sapient Manifestation is the legally recognized classification of life forms that qualify as having certain Rights and Responsibilities at some phases of maturation.

"Hu" are the "Anthropoids" that have fleshy hairy glandular exteriors, with two arms, two legs, a head with two eyes, two ears, two nostrils, one mouth, and a two-hemisphered brain (one of the few Sapient Manifestations with such a brain). It is said that in every Hu are actually 2 people. A pejorative term often used against them is "Monkey" because of their evolutionary origin sharing ancestors with monkeys.

The orphan Salma Eli is an orange-haired pale-skinned female Hu. There are many variations in pigmentation, hair color, hair texture, height, sex, and 'social role' (though that last one is argued to be a socio-economic contrivance). Often referred to by the Reconstruction Administration and Orphan Welfare Service as "The Orange Monkey".

There are also Wrigglers (or Wigglers), which have two to four eyes, no limbs other than a prehensile tail, and a large mouth that can encompass their entire body. They primarily use their tail or mouth to manipulate their environment unlike Hu that use their hands and fingers. They often have a smooth glossy texture to their skin, like a dolphin. A pejorative term often used against them is "sock" because of how some of them superficially resemble a sock.

The Moth have 2 large compound eyes and 2 pin hole eyes, two branching prehensile antennae that can be used for fine manipulation of tools and implements, 4 arms each with 2 digits, and 2 legs. They also have a long proboscis that they keep coiled to one side of their head. They also have four vestigial wings but are unable to fly. It is believed that all Moth are born with an innate ability to achieve flight but because of their modern environment they become too bulky and heavy to fly by the time they reach maturity. Moth are often seated in positions of "middle power" but the majority of Moth live in poverty. They pejorative used against Moth is "Bug" or "Roach".

Mecha are the largest classification of Sapient Manifestations. It is believed that Mecha did not emerge by evolving from inanimate material like other life forms, but instead, were designed and built by ancient Hu. Mecha have such a wide ranging possible body plan that they might have 10 limbs or none at all. No eyes, or 5 eyes or 10 eyes. They might have a mouth, or not. They might be able to fly or hover or swim, or not. Some might not even be able to move. They are however powered by simple chemical fuels instead of the complex foods other life forms consume. Most Mecha rely on white coal to live. Others might live in ethanol, organic oil, or prometheum. The Mecha occupy most repetitive or dull labor or desk jobs the are too boring or too difficult for other species to do. The pejoratives used against them are "Scrap" or "Bucket" or "Scrap Bucket". One sub-class of Mecha are Coil who do not need simple chemical fuels to live and instead use flywheels or springs for energy storage. They are seen as the inferior versions of Mecha and rarely ever have eyes. Mecha have 5 sexes but only require 2 to reproduce.

Primitives come in the form of a swarm of primitive geometric forms such are tetrahedrons, cubes, or other simple polyhedrons joined together. They are small, about the size of an apple, but they act and move in large clusters called "Castles". They do not possess limbs per se however their bodies are used in concert together to manipulate objects. They have hundreds of sexes, sharing genetic information among each other until each unit becomes its own new swarm. Units can be shed and replaced within a day, and most mature Primitive swarms have between 300 and 600 units. Young or newborn primitives are solitary until they join with other newborns that originate from other swarms. A primitive is a kind of orphan by its nature because they are not raised by their parents, but are instead raised by themselves. This is why the pejorative used against Primitives most often is "Orphan".

UZU are vaguely Mechanoid in appearance but are in fact a type of organic that lives inside a kind of shell, like a hermit crab, that it constructs. It uses this shell as its body, and operates it like a puppet. In their most vulnerable state they are naked, without their mechanical shells, and resemble a translucent slug with dozens of long tendrils. These tendrils send an electrical signal that controls their shell body. Their shells are made of multiple individual structures that all assembled together forms a strong powerful body. The UZU are regarded as tough, intelligent, connected, powerful people and are both feared and respected by everyone. There is a strong criminal underworld connotation with UZU, as many of the gangs and cartels are operated by UZU, while they might also occupy high level administrative duties. The current Great House is seated by 9 UZU, 3 Hu, and 1 Felt. UZU have a sexual dimorphism but most reproduce asexually.

Felt are similar in body plan to Hu, but only superficially so. They have a 'phantom' limb that ambulates their limbs and imbues their tissues with life force. It is hypothesized that Felt are perhaps a distantly-related cousin of UZU because their bodies are also a kind of shell, with no organs or brain, but the entity controlling them is invisible and undetectable by anything other than their body. Felt have 31 sexes but only require 2 to reproduce (alternatively they can reproduce by budding).

There are also Spin, Funi, Joring, Jorik, Afly, Jetty, Machy, Oh-tik, Oh-Otok, &@*#$%, Quillion, Rerow, and Bark.

Then there's The Grey. A folklore legend that says a people from a realm unconnected by the contiguous realm known as "Grey" that secretly govern the world from the shadow of the UZU.
