"The Apocalypse Gate"

The whole SCP containment facility had went into lock down. Amidst the sound of the air raid siren and flashing lights I looked at the two fellow officers in my unit. Antonio looked shaken but composed. Fredrick wasn't doing so well,slumped against the bunker wall.

"Did you think of anything that related to the end of the world?" Antonio asked me in his thick cuban accent. I looked at him thru my military googles and shook my head.

"No mate, I was just wondering if I was going to go for the egg salad or barbecue sandwich in the vending machine once my shift ended..." We both smiled and laughed despite our dire predicament. Then somberly and slowly we both turned towards Fredrick.

"Freddy...you okay....." He cut us off as he began speaking.

"I couldn't help it. I just got done playing that playstation 1 game. The one where the dad was looking for his daughter....."

Antonio grabbed Fredrick by the straps of his protective vest. "Freddy for fuck sakes,you moron! Didn't you "clear your head" before interacting with that thing?!"

From the security monitor I watched the robotic arm and needle laden decrpytor dial the runes around the opaque metallic ring.......soon paint peeled from metal and floated skyward like the ashes from a crematorium as everything went from sanitary sky blues and cloudy greys to rust laden mahogany and blood drenched red. All this was in stark contrast to the beautiful young black haired woman with snow white alabaster skin and a translucent glimmering gown that stepped forward with bare feet from the chaotic swirling vortex within the ring whence she emerged.........

Behind me I heard Fredrick mutter. "Alessa....her name is Alessa...."
