That’s pretty funny. When I first heard Vegeta use that dialogue on TV I didn’t put much thought into that. Nowadays I could look at it as that Bardock had a really scientific mind and was smarter than most Saiyan warriors which could help fix this dubbing error. It’s even stated still in Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that the Power Ball technique was created by Bardock.

Once upon a time back in 1996, the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Z hit US airwaves, with many changes done to the script, one change of such includes Vegeta claiming Goku's father to be a brilliant scientist. It's a bit of a running joke and I am an idiot so I drew a depiction of Bardock as a scientist.
