The Old World survives, because of one thousand martyrs. 

Mutants, preserved by the Shallyan Cultists outside of Marienburg, fought for an Empire that didn't love them back. Every single one of them died against the Glotkin that invaded the city, but the important part wasn't that the survive. The important part was that the advance of Chaos was slowed. 

One day. Then two. Then three.

Enough time for armies to rally. Enough time for the Empire to rally troops. Enough time for the legendary Grail Knight Repanse de Lyonesse to come out of hiding and save Bretonnia. 

One action saved the world.

That was ten years ago. 

The world is still recovering years later, and even after Emperor Karl Franz's decree honoring those thousand martyrs, mutants still have yet to find their footing in a wounded Empire. They're allowed knighthood, but their order is young. Tenuous. 

Julienne Heissler is one such knight. Strong, lanky, but unable to stand on two feet. Strong enough to swing her zweihander one-handed, but her statue leaves her hunched on the ground. She cannot move unless she uses all four limbs. 

Her teeth are razor sharp, but her diet still requires fiber; she must use a mortar and pestle to prepare vegetables to digest. She is a knight of the Empire, but the Empire struggles to love her back.

To help them learn she must fight for the Empire. But to be completely honest, she would much rather read books and cuddle with her girlfriend than cut down foes.

But such is life in the Land of SIgmar.
