He promised them they'd be safe. He promised them he'd protect them. But you can't always keep these promises in a world where the undead thrive. One minute, you could be tucking your adopted child into bed. But the next minute, those you love could be lost. Forced to do the unthinkable to avoid turning into a mindless monster. And all it takes is one mistake. Leon's mistake.
At the end of Resident Evil 2 (the remake, at least. I haven't seen or played the original), after completing the campaigns of both Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, the story ends with them walking away from the chaos together with the child of the virus creator, Sherry Birkin. She makes a comment that they could adopt her. I imagine that after the story is complete, they do just that, even getting married to each other. However, the peace doesn't last. After one small mistake is made, the undead are lured to their home and let inside. Having been caught off guard, Leon is unable to protect Claire, who's left with three separate bites after the last zombie is taken out. They're forced to make the ultimate sacrifice to keep Claire from turning. But Sherry is nowhere to be find. Hoping she's still alive, Leon promises Claire he'll do whatever it takes to find her and protect her.
The image itself is just of their wedding photo knocked onto the floor in the struggle against the zombies, leaving the glass cracked. Claire's hand is in the top right corner, blood running from the unseen bite on her arm. I never got a response on whether that would be too violent or not. So if it is too violent, could you at least let me know @ Matthews_Corner on Twitter? Anyway, you might also be able to see Leon's face reflected in the broken glass, looking obviously very angry.
