When the planet was invaded by Pandemonium (thats the name I came up with for the army of Chaos), it affected the inhabitants of the planet in many ways. Everyone's life changed.

Some time around when Badd stops the initial invasion, a group of mentally scarred survivors would come up with a way that they would believe that would keep Pandemonium out. This group would call themselves "the Great Disorder."

They believe that the invasion was a punishment by a greater being they call Mother. Mother would be the just that, the one who births everything violent and destructive. By building a society of laws with expectations of certain behaviors for everyone, Mother became more and more upset due to the lack of...

*ahem*...

...CHAOS.

The goal of the Great Disorder is to upkeep chaos to please Mother in order to avoid punishment.

So yeah they're a crazy terrorist cult.

They also see a responsibility to "look the part." They all must put the symbol permanently on their body by a tattoo, scar, or whatever does the job, but the placement cannot match one of another member (I.e. 2 members cannot have a 2x2" scarred symbol on the backs of their right hands). Their clothes also need to be worn and as mismatched as possible. Any method of damaging your clothing will do. Self mutilation is also done by the most devoted, cutting off fingers, pulling teeth, etc. in order to make the body asymmetrical are somewhat common with them. Sometimes they go even further by cutting off whole limbs or even degloving in order to feel closer to Mother by making themselves so uneven.

Spoiler alert: none of anything they do matters since their beliefs about Pandemonium are completely wrong in every way.
