Noteworthy notes of note:

  • You Don’t Know What You’ve Got ’Til It’s Over is based on all of the missed opportunities in life that I’ve kept thinking about recently; more on this at the end.
  • Sonic and Gumball: Waiting for the End is based on my second most favorite Linkin Park song of all time (just behind Lying from You).
  • Sonic Heroes: Never Come Back is based on the song by shinigami, fats’e, and 93FEETOFSMOKE, my second drawing to be based on a song of theirs after Sonic Skate Park Heroes! (with the song old me)
  • Sonic Metalcore is based on You Be Tails, I’ll Be Sonic by A Day to Remember.
  • Sonic and Blaze: Lavender is based on the song by BatAAr; these drawings also appear in a group collab project hosted by Gemstrike for both Smash-New-Ultimate and thenintendogirlsclub.
  • Both Sonic and Gumball: Minority and Sonic the Hedgehog: Macy’s Day Parade are based on Green Day songs.
  • Sonic’s Acoustic Practice is based on Read My Mind by The Killers and features an Oregon Concerto Bourbon CE guitar.
  • Sonic the Hedgehog ft. Sylvia and Pedro: Numb is based on the song by fats’e (the Linkin Park one is for another day).

Sonic the Hedgehog is owned by Sega and Sonic Team.

The Amazing World of Gumball is owned by Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network.

Becca’s Bunch is owned by JAM Media, Paramount, and Nick Jr.

The whole entire story behind You Don’t Know What You’ve Got ’Til It’s Over, as originally written on February 16, 2024:

As I announced less than a month ago, I had a follow-up drawing coming up for my drawing of Sonic and Gumball seeing a dead body, which I based off of a deranged, abusive psychopath who had shot himself in the middle of a highway that I’m usually driven through to work (and pretty close to where I actually live, too). Said follow-up drawing is now here, and sees Sonic crying in bed as he looks back on all of the missed opportunities in his life after realizing how out-of-nowhere death could be, based on how I now realize that I could end up as a murder-suicide target at any random moment. I added in lyrics from a new Blink-182 song I’ve been playing on constant rotation lately called ‘You Don’t Know What You’ve Got’ from their newest album ‘One More Time…’ (which reunites former ex-member Tom DeLonge with Mark Hoppus & Travis Barker after the 2012 EP Dogs Eating Dogs) released last October.

Not gonna lie, this song, combined with the mindset I’d been in lately after that self-inflicted shooting happened (and also my second COVID-19 quarantine period in the end of last month, where this was one of the two drawings I was able to make after my Sparkster one), actually got me thinking back to something I talked about in the fake games server just after that event occurred, and I did very briefly mention this in the description of that Sonic & Gumball drawing: My pre-teen years. Specifically the times in those years where three different girls actually came to me and confessed their loves to me directly in school, believe it or not (which actually made my brother jealous of me at the time), despite me never having interacted with them beforehand and always just sitting or standing away from other people and having barely any friends. Why it got me thinking of this is because I (in what I now see as one of my most regrettable decisions that I ever made) never reciprocated any of them because of trust & self-worth issues I was grappling with that I didn’t think I could tell anyone about, and yes, that does trace all the way back to my now ex-stepfamily who wanted me murdered before I was even ten years old (which I mentioned as a state of mind that I got brought back to by that deranged guy shooting himself relatively close to my home). Three different peopleadmitted to loving me, and I never let them enter my non-school life because of how abusive my living conditions were just before then; that is a tragic form of long-term damaging effects of child abuse if I ever knew of one.

And that’s exactly why I wanted to make a drawing about missed opportunities; the very fact that it took a self-inflicted shooting from a deranged psychopath to make me finally see exactly what I really had going for myself over a decade prior and didn’t realize the value of until it was far, far too late, and due to horrifying experiences that no one should ever have to go through. Since I’m now finally opening up about this, maybe someday I’ll find someone out there (female or male, as I am bisexual) who loves me and I can finally have the chance to love someone back after all that time. Preferably someone who wouldn’t mind dating a transgender person as I am a transfemale (though I’ve only told three people IRL about that, namely my mom, one of my work supervisors, and the owner of an arcade I regularly visit), and I’d also prefer said date to happen IRL as I’m not exactly a fan of online dating due to how easy it is to fake one’s own identity. Maybe someday, I’ll put myself out there and see what happens, hopefully with someone who has interests similar to mine (cartoons, movies, rock & metal music, retro gaming, etc.) and would always be willing to help me out anytime I need it.
