SMG4: “Western Spaghetti” Arc

Part 2 of the PuzzleVision Trilogy is “Western Spaghetti” with Meggy vs her fallen idol, One-Shot Wren. The entirety of this arc is different compared to other arcs where instead of a crazed demonic entity attacking the SMG4 crew back home, this is in the Wild West. This is probably the darkest arc in the series as Wren tortures Meggy for a month straight by killing her over and over again. It was great seeing Tari in a more braver role (even though her bravery is inconsistent nowadays).

The context for Flare here is that he doesn’t know Wren at all as he never grew up in Inkopolis during his inkling days and was questioning what caused his downfall as it seems like Wren means a lot to Meggy until the events of “Western Spaghetti”. Wren taunts Meggy with both Desti and Flare’s faces as in this AU, Meggy has 2 rivals. Both Tari and Flare comfort Meggy in the void and near the end, when Wren dies, Meggy wishes she could’ve been his friend and Flare wishes that he got to know Wren better.

After the crew returns home and finished their game session, Flare goes to Meggy and checks to see if she’s really okay after the month long trauma. Meggy assures him that she’ll be okay as long as she has him and her friends.
