Decided to start uploading my personal projects. Good way to track progress too I suppose.

The Ashlings of Valhanas were created by the Fire Goddess Agnis, and are as close as you could find to a living embodiment of Fire - explosive, passionate, warm, bright, and uninhibited. They live short lives but give every waking hour their very best. Also like fire, however, they tend to multiply rapidly, and can just as easily burn themselves out without control. Ashlings pack a lot of power into their short, fuzzy frames, even if they lack the stamina for sustained exertion. Whatever issues they can’t solve on their own, they can typically make up for by tackling the problem with sheer numbers. Ashlings are the most populous mortal species in Valhanas, and can be found nearly any place the earth is soft enough to dig into.

Ashlings naturally have an affinity for Fire magic. This is particularly useful for maintaining their unusually high core body temperature. Practically radiating warmth, their skin is hot to the touch. They run so hot, in fact, that all but the warmest of climates poses a risk of freezing them to death. As a result, they are taught from a very young age to passively use their magic to maintain their temperature and their health, and as a result virtually every Ashling is fairly proficient in the use of magic in general. Even if they use most of their magical energy keeping themselves alive, they're quite skilled at utilizing what remains with finesse and efficiency. On the other hand, this also means that overusing their magic energy is likely fatal instead of merely tiring, as they lose the ability to maintain homeostasis.

These people are, by and large, boisterous and dedicated to living in the moment. They’re quick to anger but just as quick to forgive. To those not used to them, Ashlings can be overwhelmingly energetic at times, but they’re mostly looking to have a good time, and want to make sure you’re having one too. If there’s a party going on, you’re sure to find a pack of Ashlings dancing and merrymaking in the middle of it, and there’s even odds they’re the ones who started it in the first place. This isn’t to say they’re altogether flighty and frivolous, however. The wits required to ensure their survival produces no shortage of great thinkers, inventors, and problem solvers, and their brilliance can burn brightly as any other when put to the test.
