Dragon mask prop printed painted

Share

A continuation from last post we have a 3d model now turned real life prop this is the 3d printed and painted prop mask along with the 3d horns and bandana set, again I do a lot of 3d modelling for work and I make this stuff for myself and commissioners in my spare time for cons and Halloween!

This is the fully painted and sized mask with some cushioning and a re-sizable elastic for holding it on, this was part of my "cursed pirate Halloween costume". Again Halloween is one of if not my FAVE holiday ( there are 3 other pieces in the set including some cannon bombs a blunderbuss and a mast breaker ) so yeah I tend to go all out and love doing costumes and props to the max not to mention being able to show off and not be a boring old human

this set of images shows off several angles of the mask as well as the horns and the bandana. the base 3d model made in Zbrush and cleaned up / sized Maya and then touched up in Slic3r before being fully printed on my FDM printer. After a long print the mask was trimmed and heat moulded to fit the face a little cleaner before a quick cut along the side was made with as dremmel to fit the band.

Paint used was a skin safe acrylic, several green of course with a hint of yellow and blue as a base and then a pale beige for the teeth. After 3 coats of pant and some layering with small brushes it was sealed with a "dull coat" sealer and then the padding was applied.

I'll have way more images of this and the process in my scraps folder soon.

There is no lower jaw to allow for maximum air flow as well the eyes holes are quite large to allow for more visibility.
