The Retro-Orbital Chaos Compressor (ROCC), also known as the Amazing Transforming Machine (ATM) or the Reverse Quantum BioFormulator (RQBF), was a machine created by the great Dr. Ovi Kintobor. It consisted of thousands of gold rings that constantly flowed good karma around the machine's core as it moved evil from one object into another. The evil from Mobius was to be transferred into six mystical emeralds. The sought-after seventh emerald, the Gray Emerald, was needed to control and stabilize the other six. Unfortunately an accident occurred in Dr. K's lab which caused him to absorb the negative energies of the emeralds along with taking on the physical characteristics of the egg he was holding, thus transforming the good doctor into the bulbously hideous, vile and nasty, Dr. Ivo Robotnik. The Golden Rings were then scattered all across the Zones of Mobius.
