Masahiro's Dream

Share

The teller of tales I chose was Masahiro Sakurai. He is famous for developing games for Nintendo: the most notable of which is a 4 part game series called 'Super Smash Bros.'. The second installment of this series, Melee, was my first game. I remember countless of nights where I would stay up playing this game on my gamecube. (The remotes are so worn out by all of this I had to custom paint one of them so I could play the most recent installment of Smash) For me Smash isn't just a game I would play everyday after school. It's one story full of emotion and excitement. With a roster of over 50 of my favorite Nintendo characters as a kid my imagination went wild. From tales of the heroic Link, clad in green, who set out to save Zelda from the evil Gannon in a one stock (life) situation from brotherly feuds between Mario and Luigi, fighting until their last breath in stamina mode. I remember I would set the time to unlimited and play for hours at a time, or with my friends until one player emerged from the fray a champion. Masahiro is the one responsible for not only passing on these imaginative tales to millions of people like me. For me Smash is one story book that will never end. It's pages will never grow old in my heart and it will continue to shape the person I am today. I first picked up art because I wanted to drawl the characters I saw! I wanted to capture those moments, the humor, the rage, and the triumph as a ode to my beginings. However, as I grew older I realized that Smash for Masahiro is a tale that has already been told. He meant to put an end to the story, for it to remain in people's hearts like it had mine and not for it to live on in the form of some sequel. For this I dedicate my artwork to his dream. The dream of a man who has forever etched his tale into my once childish heart. Thank you for giving me this chance Jazza. The link is here for a halfway point in my work: http://i66.tinypic.com/5z7v9.jpg I hope I did all of this correctly because as you can see I'm a traditional guy and I'm not the best with technology. And sorry about the poor quality photo. It's the best I can do. It's a graphite sketch btw.
