This is my entry for the August draw with jazza challenge of the month. The untraditional aspect of this piece is that I used candy to make it. I mixed skittles with water to tint the water with the color around the outside of the candy to make a water color of sorts. I also used a candy that is basically sugary colored liquid in a sort of edible wax container... it is sort of hard to explain but is is pretty much a colored sugar water candy... thing. I also used chocolate milk syrup because all of the candy water colors were extremely pastel, and I thought that they needed something to break them up somewhat. For the picture itself, I used no line art, which I honestly do not do very often, at least with such pastel tones. (I like the contrast that the darker lines provide, and it is kind of a habit for me). So, with this piece, I tired to push myself in more ways than one for this challenge. As for the theme of the piece, the person in it is supposed to be a kind of sky nymph or spirit. She is searching for wishes, and placing them into the sky as stars. It is kind of a weird idea but that is my thinking behind it. Overall I really like the outcome of it and I wish luck to everyone :).
