As promised, here's the complete NG crew from my PICO DAY entry!

And now I think it's finally time to make a proper Behind The Scenes like i said yesterday! A lot of art moots and awesome folks have been asking me since I started sharing my artworks how the heck I transfer it into digital and what goes on in between. WELL today is the day!

𝓑𝓮𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓭 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓢𝓬𝓮𝓷𝓮𝓼 𝓸𝓯 𝓵𝓮 𝓹𝓲𝓬𝓸 𝓭𝓪𝔂 2024...

First things first, I start sketching out some wild ideas for the overall composition or approach I'm going for before diving headfirst into the drawing. For my entry I decided to stick with a traditional sketch and took some inspiration from the "Capcom Design Works" cover art! Here I made choices about which characters to include and their respective sizes. (btw i just realized I wrote picoday2023 instead of 2024 in the photo aw hell naw)

Before diving into the drawing itself and all that good stuff, let's take a look at the materials I usually use for each artwork (presented by my homie Salad Fingers):

And now that we're all set, it's finally time to DRAW!! You know, the fun part!!! Here I started off using graphite directly, and once I had all the characters I wanted, I switched to pen lines (0.2 for normal lineart, 0.3 for shadows, and 0.03 for cross-hatching)

NEXT STEP: Battle with technology! Grab any old piece of junk that can scan in HD, and you're good to go! I have this one, but I wouldn't recommend it at all lol i hate hp

After that, it's time to convert the entire NG cast into a transparent base, keeping only the lineart! Each character has their own layer to make the process more manageable because dudee having this many characters can get pretty confusing fr. I also need to adjust the sizes of each character accordingly aand once that's done, it's time for flat colors!

Now that every character is in their respective positions and painted, we add some shadows, depth, and those final touches of color...

AND VOILA IT'S DONE! Now it's time to play around with backgrounds, add more details like patterns, adjust text sizes, and so on. The final results can be seen in this post!: PICO DAY 2024 ?!
