I did this painting for an old friend of mine. we don't talk anymore unfortunately, and when making this we hadn't spoken in a little over a year. So I painted this, framed it, wrote a letter, and that's the last time I've ever spoken to them. In effect, I really made this so mark that our friendship was truly over. There was a time I considered them my best friend.
Anyway, this was the first time I'd ever made a full traditional painting on a fairly large canvas, having measured 12x9 inches. I used Pastels and it took me a little over an hour to finish, another hour to tweak it until It was ready to ship. I'm planning on doing more pastel paintings, maybe sell them at auctions, let people pay what they think they're worth and all that. I'm getting better at them.
I'm still learning the medium, so any tips on using pastels would be appreciated, there's plenty of areas in this where it's clear I was covering mistakes by carving them back with another color. in most cases it looks fine as a shadow, but in others it's odd.
