Realistic Mario Mushroom

Share

Part of a series of Nintendo-themed sculptures meant to be recreated in a more realistic manner, which started with the Realistic Piranha Plant (seen here: http://www.newgrounds.com /portal/view/513884 , and ends with a Baby Metroid in formaldehyde, which will be available in a few months.

It is a Super Mushroom, as seen in Super Mario Bros. I used clay and acrylics and the final piece is slightly over an inch in size.

And just in case, from the Q/A:
Q: No photographs? What about a photo of a painting I did in real life?
A: A photograph of a sculpture, painting, or some other piece of art you have made are in fact exceptions to this rule. Feel free to submit scans and photographs of your art if it's not already in a digital format.

this is really cool but really creepy-

Wow, this is amazing. I KNEW you would mention that piranha plant. I also knew that it was a photograph. It simply seemed too realistic to not be. I am glad you explained the misconception. I appreciate you putting this on the website.

We want all great artwork here. Sculpture should be no exception. You even manage to make this guy not that creepy. He's still creepy, of course. Mario is so popular you should create something in real life. Then again, you can't eat this thing.

mario is so...

mario is so cruel ti eat those kewl tomatoes :3

Heh..

And how do Mario eats it?

Ugh...

Those eyes are freaking me out...
