Inktober 2019: Ancient

Today's prompt features Dirge from the game Shadow of the Colossus! (And yes, he shares a name with one of my own characters, but trust me, there is zero connection there.)

Shadow of the Colossus is a legendary game all on its own, it released for the PS2 exclusively in around 2006 and ever since, has been present on every main Playstation console (Team Ico collection on PS3, and remake on Ps4).

It's basically a game I like to describe affectionately as an open-world boss rush haha, you are given a vague narrative of a guy called Wander coming into this temple on his horse, and carrying a dead girl. He meets a deity there called Dormin that seems strangely interested in his sword. He tasks him to decimate all 16 colossi, gigantic monsters that reside in the wild terrains of the game in return for a favor of returning the soul to the dead body.

Each fight with the respective colossus is exciting and unique, and on top of all this, the soundtrack to this game is absolute perfection.

Highly recommend this game, one of its kind and a timeless masterpiece from Team Ico. (I also played through the Last Guardian at the time I made this piece, another game made by them)

In the game, you don't really see Dirge's full head as he's swimming through the sand and chasing after you, but I decided to draw his head out of the sand to show that pretty mug of his. I hope I did a good job of separating the head from the rest of the body in the background, it's an issue I ran into midway cause I have a really hard time scaling things down, even on an A4 page.
