This drawing was inspired by the poem "Eight Balloons" from the book "A Light in the Attic" by Shel Silverstein. The poem is about a bunch of balloons that aren't being sold to anyone, so they break loose and fly off to do things they want to do, but they all end up getting popped. Well, in this case, my drawing does not include eight balloons. Instead, it includes nine! I drew an extra balloon, because why not? Shel's poems are a lot of fun to read, and the illustrations in some of his books give me plenty of inspiration for drawing.
I made two versions of this drawing: one in black and white and one with color. Even though the poem didn't say what colors the balloons were, I decided to give my balloons some nice, bright colors to make my drawing pop. (Get it?)
