A while ago VaatiVidya put together a contest to design bosses/enemies for the upcoming FromSoft game "The Elden Ring". I started up mine, but didn't manage to finish it on time. Here's what I would've come up with.

It's not that original of a design, and looking at the winners you can see more interesting executions of the concept of "Murderous Horse Creature with water-based theming", so in the end I don't think I would've ended up anywhere within the contest. I didn't draw the arena for this guy either, but I guess a Magic-the-Gathering-esche swamp with breakable dead tree trunks and sinkholes would've been fitting for it. I guess I'm still so hung up on Ludwig from Bloodborne that I just wanted to make my own take on him.

Why would I finish this when the deadline isn't just past but also so far behind it's almost comedic to the point of not being funny? I don't know. I think I took it personally that I couldn't finish this on time, so I said "Fuck it!" and decided to sit down and scribble it into moderate completion. I will say this sort of thing has to happen more often, where I put stuff more than just commissioned work.

Please, let me know what you think of it in the comments. I appreciate and every single one I receive.

You can check the Making Of post right here.

Thank you!
