On Destiny Islands, there is a fortune-teller and dancer, one that some know as a cooky, but kind and well-meaning lady, others see her as an idiot who can't see anything in that crystal ball. Sora knows her as his mom. An easy-going mother and wife of a ferryman, Setchia is usually fine with Sora going out exploring, as long as he always comes back. But one day, after a fateful encounter with the Master of Masters, Sora didn't return, and Setchia sought out any way to reach his Heart from beyond, no matter where it was.

  An enthusiastic researcher of divination and a talented bellydancer, Setchia makes money on the islands giving fortunes, but they are often cryptic and a tad vague, so not everyone takes them seriously. That said, they are accurate, and can paint a picture of things to come if you have the proper context. She believes that fate is stubborn, but can be changed. Sometimes, at least. While not much of a traveler, she's willing to reach out if it means keeping an eye on her son and his friends, plus it helps pay the bills.

   In the decade Aqua spent searching the Multiverse for her friends, she frequently checked up on Destiny Islands, becoming friends with Setchia. Her attempts at stoicism bounced off Setchia's more upbeat demeanor, and Setchia has tried to get Aqua to loosen up at points, not wanting her whole life to be consumed by her duties. Her talents, while niche, can be quite helpful, especially if people are uncertain about the future of their world, or even the Multiverse.

Setchia Xine Facts

• Setchia being a fortune-teller stems from her living on Destiny Islands. It also adds a connection to her son, as Sora was never meant to be a part of Xehanort's plans (and Master!Sora wanted his counterpart as far from his plans as possible) but still got involved and prevailed. Sora's basically a testament to his mother's belief that fate isn't entirely unchangable. There's also a darker connection to Master!Sora, who can also see possible futures.
• Earlier drafts of Setchia either had her be overprotective or...ahem, dead. The final version is more open-minded, which probably fits better with Sora's personality. Setchia's status as an OC is dubious, given Sora's mom did have one bit of dialogue in the first game, but she was never seen, and I doubt she looked like this.
• Setchia's fortune-teller outfit is based on the Fortuneteller Heartless, and like them, her outfit has puffy pants. No shoes though.
• Her favorite food is mangos, and her favorite beverage is orange juice.
• Her favorite play is Macbeth, and her favorite book is Harry Potter. This may be because they both have themes of fate, as both Macbeth and Voldemort tried to prevent prophecies from happening, only to set said prophecies into motion.
• Her favorite type of game is board games, and she has a collection of them in her house. She likes playing them with Sora and his father.
• While Sora knows about her fortune-teller job, Setchia has never let her son or his friends see her bellydance, as she wanted to avoid any uncomfortable issues that would bring up. It was easy to distract them when she goes out for a show when they were kids, as their attention spans just crumbled once she put Pocoyo on the TV. Now that they're older...it's still easy to hide it, because Sora's kind of a dolt.
• Going with Sora's name meaning "Sky", Setchia's name is based on "Setchi", which is Japanese for "Ground". Fitting enough, since unlike Sora, Setchia isn't much of a traveller.
• Her and Sora's last name, Xine, is "Enix" spelt backwards. Get it? Square Enix?
• Setchia has a passion and fixation on divination and fate, wondering when it can and can't be changed. This got to the point where she crafted a crystal ball from Materia and Dust (Powerful elements from Final Fantasy and RWBY respectively) to help her see possible destinies. In spite of the vagueness of the visions this ball gave her, it does work. In her own words "If I knew what these meant, I'd charge people double for them." Her fixation on destiny leads to some islanders seeing her as weird, and not everyone really pays her visions any mind. But again, in her own words "You think I'm always wrong and yet you still keep paying me to look into the future. How am I the idiot here?"
• Sora inherited some of his quirks from her. They're both not-too-good with technology and, despite their empathy, Setchia really wasn't any quicker to pick up on the fact that she was in love back then than Sora is now. She ultimately did figure it out, hence why she married a man who's now Sora's father. Said father has a job as a ferryman for the islands.
• On the subject of Sora picking up things from Setchia, she and Sora also have signs of autism (Hyper empathy, odd ways of interpreting what they're told, fixations on certain topics, looking pressure stimulation, etc.) This actually does have some grounds, as this shows.
• Setchia's husband, Kumo (Japanese for "Cloud"), is a gentle man, but going with Sora's mom looking...well, like that, his father has some notable muscle to him (Likely from manning a boat so often) and he's taller than her, to the point where their family photo cuts off at his neck. The two shared a Papou Fruit on their wedding night.
• Setchia's cryptic fortunes include...
• "When the way to the Islands' Heart is unlocked, the skies will go dark, only the brightest Souls will emerge from the shadows..."
• "The king's throne remains empty, and a friend shares his absence."
• "A cherished one you never met awaits in oblivion. Her lies are stained with tears."
• "The fallen Hearts you seek are forever bound to you. They are always close."
• "The forgotten king rules a land lost to time."
• "The Master of Corruption seeks to plunge all into agony. The key to its downfall is out of your reach..."
• "The Heart of All Worlds will become one. You cannot stop it. You must not stop it."
