BOOOM!!! The future contender's powerful left hook crashed yet AGAIN into the battered and swollen face of the Boxing Nun, Sister Beatrice Santoro, and exploded more sweat from her face, hair, and veil, along with a long stream of bloody saliva from her mouth and blood from her nose. It was the 8th round of what had turned into a surprisingly entertaining, but also very bruising and intense slugfest between a highly rated female prospect and her emergency replacement opponent in the Boxing Nun. Sister Beatrice staggered a step and opening both of her partially swollen shut eyes, fired back a right straight that cracked her opponent between the eyes and socked her head back with an explosion of sweat of its own, though her face wasn't quite as battered as the nun's was, and with no swelling, just light bruising. Still it staggered her enough that they both now clinched to recover a moment, panting as they held each other up.

"Jeez... How the heck are you still standing... after all this punishment? Your head made out of sanctified stone from a cathedral, Sister?" the better skilled but still surprised opponent asked in whispers in the clinch.

"It might be... since you claim it is... This is a typical... 'day in the office' in the ropes... for me... You're going to wear... a belt some day girl. I don't doubt it... You're going to win this bout too... but I AM finishing it! Are you up to... having some prayer time and a blessing...with me later in the locker room?" Sister Beatrice now whispered back, and she felt her opponent pat her on the back soothingly with the same left glove that had just caved her face in figuratively moments before.

"Yes... I do. I've felt something warm inside while trading with you in this ring. I've felt touched by something with how you refuse to give in to my punches, but you're not bitter about me being so much better than you, you're congratulating me for it. Maybe there is a God after all... I do want to have some prayerful time and soulful blessings talk with you later." the prospect answered back, and she then felt a firm, but still gentle 'bop' in her ribs from one of the Boxing Nun's red cross-adorned white gloves.

"Alright, then we shall... AFTER the rest of this round... and two more to go. Let's give the crowd a meaningful show! Keep trying to knock me out... I want to prove that you CANNOT!" Sister Beatrice answered back and then shoved her opponent away, and the ring was again filled with the sounds of boxing gloves impacting to skin and pained grunts from both fighters!

This beautiful piece of artwork comes from and serves to finally portray Sister Beatrice Santoro after she's gone deep into one of her fights against a future title contender as a last-minute replacement opponent and shows to me what typically happens to her when she faces future belt-holders. She is a 'gatekeeper' boxer, as in she tends to win against untested prospects or fighters in the twilight of their careers, while against fighters in their prime and poised to compete for title belts, she tends to lose, often by UD and sometimes by TKO. In her weight class though, its still rare for her to be completely knocked out. The rare lady who will manage to hold multiple title belts at once are the only ones in my view who can knock her completely out and unconscious.

Sister Beatrice is at peace with having her eyes swollen up this badly a lot when she gets in the boxing ring. She knows she's risking many health problems later in life, but according to her, she has felt 'assurances in faith' that LORD God is watching out for her and will keep her safe as long as she keeps her boxing focus on donating her purses to her Order and Monastery, and always strives to make an impression on her opponents to want to spend a little time with her and God later when the fight is over. If she becomes blind eventually from her eyes getting swollen shut so many times, she is at peace with that, as long as she is still able to breastfeed infants in the monastery nursery if she goes blind while she's still young and able to nurse.
