Of course it's all quite gorgeous and impressive on a technical level, but it's really the general vibe of this piece that catches my attention. There's just something oddly compelling about placing a skull - an object that is easily associated with death - in such serene, peaceful scenery. And this is without getting into the mark on the forehead - just what is it, and who did this skull belong to? "A picture says more than a thousand words" is in full effect here.
