Barlo is another gargoyle OC I’m working on. Where Grott and Karmer are training to be clergy within the gargoyle religion, Barlo is a part-time follower only; he performs the more important rituals on holidays, but the vast majority of the time he’s just living his life. He has a job with both human and gargoyle coworkers, he rents an hole-in-the-wall apartment, he pays taxes, he scrolls on his phone too long at night (he doesn’t carry it with him during the day because he doesn’t wear pants and has no pockets), he’s just a normal guy who happens to be a 7 foot tall winged goatman.

Compared to other gargoyles I’ve drawn, Barlo represents the average. Grott is the runt of the litter who’s short even by human standards, while McCobb is a hulking mass pushing 9 feet tall yet somehow still has an inferiority complex. Barlo is neither tall nor short, not particularly muscular, and chill as ice; he’s completely checked out, he doesn’t stress about anything, he just goes with the flow. Shit happens, whatcha gonna do? He’s a very calming presence, and Grott goes to him for worldly advice; he manages to be helpful 5 times out of 7.
