Rose Skull

Share

I saw a drawing of some roses recently, had the idea of a skull made of/covered in roses come to mind, so I decided to give it a shot.

I like to imagine that if I stood in front of the bathroom mirror and peeled away the skin of my face, this is what I'd see.

Well this was pretty cool! I like the idea too. The eyes, the forehead, the main thing here: looks great. The teeth, hmm, not sure... surrounding bone roses seem a bit simple compared to the big one too, and it bothers me a bit that it's not fully centered, even though the canvas is ALMOST square. But really cool composition overall.

I'm imagining this as a wallpaper now... in a house. The floral patterns of old come back with a vengeance...

Thanks, cd, I appreciate that! I didn't really know what I was doing at this point and wasn't even using an actual drawing program. This might actually be something worth revisiting now that I'm using Krita...

This came out beautifully, L. Great work!!

GoodL responds:

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it!

Pretty cool, I like it! I co-host this podcast where we talk about NG projects and blackface, do you mind if I mention this one on the air? In any case, great job! :D

GoodL responds:

Podcast you say? No thanks, I'm not interested.

In all seriousness though, thank you, much appreciated :)

Looks cool. I like the color choices.

GoodL responds:

I'm glad you like it! In all honesty I just hope to some day make something that can even hold a candle to your art!

I love the overall design and concept. Amazing art work too. One thing I'd hope to see is the shading adjusted a bit. The 4 outer roses are shaded exactly the same (C&P) so rotating them makes the lighting a bit wonky. Either way this is an amazing piece. Also love the BG so it's not on a plain background. I hope to see more artwork man! Cheers

GoodL responds:

Thanks a lot for the feedback, and I totally agree. I tried to keep the shading somewhat consistent when I was orienting the crossbones roses, but I agree it would have been better to do it manually.
