sorry for the lack of posts! i started a new job which has taken up all my energy unfortunately. now i'm here though with something that isnt nsfw for once!
today is the start of Wep Ronpet week for me, which is the 5 days leading up to Wep Ronpet itself; the ancient egyptian new year. Wep Ronpet usually corrolates to when the Sirius star is rising in your area, but I just kinda did a guess so there's a chance im way off. either way, Wep Ronpet is celebrated around the middle of summer in most practices.
i decided to draw two of my patron gods, Khonsu and Thoth, playing senet to kick off the week!
for those unfamiliar with ancient egyptian myth, Khonsu and Thoth played senet as a gambling game. Thoth made a bet where if he won, he would get a portion of Khonsu's moonlight. Thoth won, took his light, and with it created 5 extra days in the year so the goddess Nut could give birth to her children, as she was cursed to never give birth by her father Ra (or Amun) on any day of the year. the 5 extra days in ancient times were considered 'outside of the year', allowing her to give birth. that's how Osiris, Set, Heru-Wer, Isis and Nephthys were born! :)
