Aside from possessed creatures and Black Matter constructs, the forces of the Thalnyaric Legion - also known outside their homeworld of Muriga as the Forceless Collective - are also made up of beings whose loyalty to the Legion isn’t based solely around being possessed. Many of these cultists serve as the backbone of the Collective’s army as they move to conquer the galaxy.
According to the Church of Yalbdalaoth - the Legion’s claimed eternal enemy - these cultists have been corrupted by Thalnyara - the Murigan goddess of chaos - with various promises, while those in the Legion claim that they are fighting to overthrow oppressive institutions. However, there are rumors from those outside either the Church or Legion that some of those who have been disillusioned by the Church’s draconian practices or stumbled upon the Church’s darker secrets have been found suddenly serving the Legion. And some more rational-minded beings have questioned the claim of the Thalnyaric Legion representing chaos when their forces seek to convert or possess others and conquer the universe.
If you’ve looked through my older pieces (some of which you can find on other websites), you’ll notice that this design (particularly the mask and hood combination) is based on an older design for the Forceless construct warriors. These guys are essentially an excuse to have mooks for the Forceless Collective who are more basic to fight, but have more personality than the Black Matter construct warriors (i.e. that human element, even if they aren’t strictly human; in other words, a Wilhelm scream wouldn't feel weird coming from them).
