Neon Genesis Evangelion is a really weird anime, but it resonated with me when I first watched it. I loved all the characters (except Gendo, of course) and even the bizarre finale grew on me.

Rei is probably one of the show's most memorable characters, and the way the show slowly reveals her mysterious origins is really clever.

I made this piece using this reference image, since I've had a lot of trouble drawing Rei from memory.
