This is a reference to another animation connection I have discovered - Mr. Max Fleischer, responsible for working on many Popeye cartoons, also directed a Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer cartoon in 1948 before the Rankin-Bass version aired. Popeye gives Rudolph a cupcake filled with gingerbread, nutmeg and carrots and the little guy is all too happy to have it. Rudy’s earned it for all of his hard work pulling Santa’s sleigh!
