Marble and Deni

Share

Four months ago, I had an idea for a comic, and thought it would be neat. I based it off of biology, mainly microbiology which I had been always a little interested in though I had not known much about it, though now I know more than I did four months ago. It's not supposed to be realistic though, I don't think it'd be fun for me to write or draw if I wanted to be realistic. Doing research, I realized that many things taught in school about cells would probably be wrong. There is so much more than animal and plant cells, and not all of them have the same structure too. Also, not all plant cells are rectangular, but I don't really care about that

I had also realized that it's not easy to make a comic if you're new. English is also an awkward language, and I had to rephrase things over and over again. Drawing the panels had also been hard. The colors here are different than the ones in the comic, I use a more limited color palette to make it easier to color.

I designed Marble to resemble a mouse, as mice are known to be test subjects and I've always liked mice too. They're more based off microscopic animals like rotifers and tardigrades than animal cells. Marble didn't have a name for around three months, so I quickly named them by just finding a rock or mineral to name them after which I usually do

Deni is based off a plant cell. I didn't think it'd be accurate if plant cells were more rectangular, though as I said it's not supposed to be realistic. Their name came from the word garden.

I may describe more design processes the more I post things
