Lazy, laidback, womanising, and a bit nervous, Smargg Scail once was an illegal game seller who stole and sold games with his adoptive younger brother Ren. However, after swerving right into the Final Light ark, he and Ren were given a second chance by the Senators by studying for Galactrian Academy - the first learning institute to implement the "Genetic Code" (i.e: eugenics). After graduating (and taking down the code with friends, as you do), Smargg became a whiteshirt crewman onboard the Starship Trailblazer, and became one of the people to discover the pocket dimension known as the Oppozone - which would ultimately become the key to escape for the Final Light from the dying universe.

However, his life was not all sun and rainbows, even before his troublesome history as an illegal game seller, for he had a deep resentment of his family, who were not only cruel and neglectful, but also helped to enslave and murder most of the vindaloon population, which Smargg was strongly against, especially after befriending the young slave Ren as a child, whom he'd run away with to live a life of game pirating. However, after realising that Ren had supressed his traumatic memories from when he was young, Smargg took this as an opportunity to lie to him about his past.. so that Ren would never know it was Smargg's own father who had enslaved him.

Unsurprisingly, once Ren learnt this in the Oppozone, he was PISSED OFF. In fact, he was so pissed off he attacked Smargg right in front of everyone! It was safe to say it took some time until the two's relationship healed, although Smargg swooped in to save Ren from being shot at by the evil Moglix, Maximus Rex, leaving Smargg in the hospital for weeks. Fortunately, they DID manage to make things up, and by the time the Final Light migrated to a new universe, the two old men were happy chums.
