Trivia:

• He puts dust on his face to make it look like he has a beard, because of it he has a lot of acne
• His clothes are somewhat baggy and big because he's too small for his uniform, despite it being the smallest size
• His favourite food is eggs, he'll always eat one when given the chance
• He got his English/French name after an English man mishearing his name, Kaname, for Calamett. He ended up liking the name, and has no preference between the two names.
• I was considering giving him a girlfriend/wife, but I dropped this idea. He might be straight but honestly I don't feel like giving him a canon sexuality, he's a French soldier, why does it matter?

He came to Britain on a supply ship to leave Japan because he hated being trapped in an isolated home and country and wanted to adventure the world, (Japan had a period of isolation between 1639-1853) and he temporarily became part of the Navy around the Napoleonic Wars because of his experience with sailing, and the military was desperate to recuit more people. Overtime his English improved while in the Navy. He was deployed to France, then the infection hit as well, forcing the remaining Britain and French soldiers to work with each other. There, he ended up loving France and joined the French Marines. Kinda rushed, but whatever.
