Chapter 1: Disastrous Delivery Service — First Half
In the tropical garden of Nusokén, a little Fairy
is on a mission to deliver an important package.
With excitement but in a hurry, she will soon
find herself in a complicated situation.
An illustrated story based on the Touhou series.
I walk through a familiar path. The Pajé always told us that we shouldn't do it. It's dangerous and it goes against the Laws of Nature. The risk is worth it, though. it's the quickest way to get there. I'm in such a hurry that it should be fine. I mean, there isn't even time to give anyone a good evening along the way. It's not long until I see the old building in all its glory. Even though I had never been there before, the image of G̃etap Wato in the distance has been burned into my mind. While going through the main gate, I pass by two Izagaias. You'll rarely see them in the Crop Fields, much less so during festivals, but they are all over the place here. Someone with more free time could try going ahead and talking to one, but they don't really mingle with other Hirokaria. That's when I whisper to myself, "oh no...." I realize that I've forgotten something very important. I was told to bring a package all the way here (simple enough), except that I didn't listened to who the package was being delivered to. "Maybe I should go ask someone?" I tell myself. But no, I can't do it. We Kisé already have it bad enough with our reputation. Everybody treats us like we're some kind of joke. They think that we're dumb, good for nothing. The others may not care about it but I do. It's so embarrassing. The last thing I need is to hear about the Kisé who was too clueless to do a simple delivery. "Well, maybe I should just look around? It can't be that difficult," I say. Sure, it's a big place. But if they needed it delivered quickly, they must be pretty busy right now. I'll just need to find someone who looks occupied around here.
That's what I thought, until I heard: "Can I help you?" "Who, Me?" "Yes. You were standing still, mumbling about something for a while now." Argh! Was it so easy to tell? "O-Of course not! I'm fine, thank you! I was just... stretching?" "Stretching. Here." "Ha ha, yes! I need to stay in shape, you know? Making important deliveries and all." "I see. Them, I'll have to ask you to take your business elsewhere." "Alright! No problem. I was just going upstairs anyways." "You're going the wrong way." "T-Thanks...." At this point I could just jump through the window. Anything to escape from this conversation. In one hand, I always wanted to have a tour through G̃etap Wato, maybe even get to meet the Pajé herself. But on the other hand, I'm too worried to enjoy any of this. *** *** ***
"Nothing here either. It's no use." I continue moving upstairs, pretend that I know where I'm going while avoiding looking anyone in the eyes. The further up I go, the less doors and hirokaria are seen by the corridors. The silence has already started to freak me out. If I wasn't trying to avoid dropping this package, I would have jumped as I heard a loud cackle. It's coming from behind a door right next to me. Curious, I try to listen through it. That's when I hear two people talking. "Whuzzat? Ya'll bein' serious? That's just crazy talk!" "It was his will, and so it shall be done." "Shoot! Not ya too...." "Listen, Ah can't just teleport over the Pacific and bring ya souvenir or somethin'. It's not that simple." "Pacific? What are they talking about?" I mumble to myself. "I understand. Even the Wãgkãgkãg have their limits, after all." "No. This requires a combined effort. You will be aided by the Wiakãg'mi'yt on this mission." "Heh. As long as Ah don't 'ave ta pay for any plane tickets. Sure." "I prophetize that our answers will be found there, beyond the great lake." Before I have the chance to react, a powerful blow knocks me down. My body hurts too much to breathe, much less scream for help. TO BE CONTINUED
